Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Too often “mission” becomes about “us” rather than what Jesus talked about in Luke 4 (thus, more focus on how many seats in the “sanctuary” or arena rather than how many mouths with food and children with education). Whenever we are more focused on how many come to “us” than we are on how many lives and systems we’ve helped change via Lk4, we have a problem. Let me add to your list:

Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
James A. Forbes
Otis Moss 2 (and 3!!)
Freddy Haynes
and that’s just the beginning! BUT most white pastors haven’t learned as much from these sources because we don’t ask or listen or seek to learn . . .

Good thought Efrem. In a comment from Everett Wilson, he laments that God has been long at work “reviving” the church and lately we have been busy about “revitalizing” the church. What happened to revival? It’s the same thread as missional and the Black church. Keep doing the good job leading us!
